Apples - 10.04.2019
The group visited a local apple orchard where they heard stories and learned about apples, bees, and honey. Special activities at the orchard included making giant bubbles, meeting real live chickens, and trying out the apple slingshot.
We owe a special thanks to Half Crown Hill Orchard for graciously hosting our kickoff storytime session.

Fire Safety - 10.11.2019
Everyone got to listen to stories about fire safety and the important role of firemen, play with toys that showed how to sort, trucks that taught about services in the community (fire, postal, ambulance) and then got a chance to visit and climb on an actual fire truck.
Fireman Ryan Johnson from the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department helped everyone learn about the truck and showed them what his turnout gear was like and how much it weighed.

Halloween & Pumpkins - 10.25.2019
During this week's session, everyone listened intently as Miss Julie read three good, spooky stories - setting the mood for some Halloween fun.
After the stories, kids were asked to test their bravery by reaching into boxes to touch mysterious "monster parts." Lots of squeals and concerned faces were on hand until they turned into smiling, giggling faces when we revealed what was really inside. This activity was followed up by a quick coloring session and then on to the costume parade and trick-or-treating through the library where candy and spooky spider and bat rings were collected.

We followed the stories with a special video that shows animals captured on camera at night and each child tried to identify them. It wasn't that easy without seeing their colors like during the daytime!
